Great to see the East Gippsland Shire Council coming to the party 🥳🌊 𝗟𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝗧𝘆𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝗘𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲 🌊The Lake Tyers estuary opened to Bass Strait overnight, with water levels reaching 2.27m at 3.50am. The estuary levels are now subsiding, and water quality monitoring will take place today.💧 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝘆 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲: If you’re visiting, be cautious. There a strong tidal movements, and the sandy banks can erode.⚠️ 𝗖𝗹𝗲𝗮𝗻-𝘂𝗽 𝗶𝗻 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗴𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘀: Council is committed to promptly addressing the clean-up. Once water levels drop, we will focus on removing mud and dead vegetation. We are also planning repairs to infrastructure and replacement of any damaged street furniture. Council has engaged a cleaning contractor and arranged for the Nowa Nowa boat ramp, jetty, playground, boardwalk and picnic area to be assessed. Lake Tyers walking tracks and boat ramp are also being assessed. 🌿 𝗘𝗻𝘃𝗶𝗿𝗼𝗻𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗶𝗺𝗽𝗮𝗰𝘁: The opening could have effects on the local ecosystem.
